Kingfisher Airline Head says he wants the Airline to Restart

The head of the troubled Kingfisher Airline has sent a rare communication to staff outlining plans to restart limited operations, Agence France Presse reports.

India's Kingfisher has been grounded since October when it lost permission to fly after a deadline to renew a suspended license with regulators came and went at the start of the year.

Problems began last year, and many of Kingfisher's employees are still owed wages.

Dr Vijay Mallya's email, sent late Wednesday, said he hopes to restart flights this March with $118 million provided by the airline's parent UB Group.

In the email, seen by AFP, he said there were "discussions with multiple investors", including Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, to sell a stake in the airline.

"We remain confident that we will secure a deal," he wrote in the email.

When Kingfisher's flights were canceled, passengers were either accommodated on other airlines or offered a full refund.
